Based in Southampton, a market leader in the provision of optical products is now looking for a Business Development Manager to join their growing team.
Ideally you will have studied and worked with Photonics, Optics, Lasers or similar, and have a passion to move your career into a commercial role.
As Business Development, your main focus will be selling their existing products, managing enquiries through to close, and financial reporting.
Working closely with customers your focus will be to develop both new and existing sales opportunities.
Your time will be split between business development of new customers and supporting and developing existing customers/sales.
On a daily basis you will be talking with customers via phone and email as well as undertaking customer visits and attending trade shows as required.
Working with the Head of Sales, you will provide reports on the market, competitor intelligence, market trends and sales progress.
The successful candidate will have both strong technical, and strong communication skills.
Ideally you should have at least 2 years previous experience in a similar sales environment.
Product training will be given, but and understanding and passion for Photonics, Optics and Lasers is essential.

As the successful Business Development Manager, you should hold at least a Degree in a relevant subject such as Physics, Optics, Materials Science, coupled with experience working in a similar commercial role.
